Effective Delegating

One of the most difficult tasks for supervisors (especially new ones) is learning to apportion the work among the employees they supervise. The difficulty is often due to just those personal qualities—job knowledge, competent personal performance, initiative, motivation, and a reasonable degree of interpersonal skills—that made them successful employees in the first place and ultimately led to their promotion. Those qualities might lead new supervisors to believe they can do all the important work in their unit by themselves.

Delegation is not some mysterious art available to only a chosen few. It is a basic management process that can be learned and honed to a fine edge by anyone who is willing to make the effort and able to get some practice. Delegation is a valuable tool that is critical to a manager’s growth. Good delegation skills can go a long way in helping reach personal as well as organizational goals and objectives. Key to the successful mastering of the art of delegation is not only knowing when to delegate, but knowing what and to whom to delegate as well. Providing these sound principles is what this workshop is all about.

This workshop will enable managers to better identify talent and ability among subordinates by allowing them to become more involved in a greater variety of tasks, which will aid productivity and, consequently, improve performance.
