Sexual Harassment

We all want a safe, secure, enjoyable place to work. We want to produce good work and contribute to our workplace. Unfortunately, for substantial numbers of men and women, sexual harassment interferes. It not only affects them negatively as individuals, but also negatively affects their colleagues, their department—indeed, the entire organization. People who feel harassed cannot focus on their work, have increased absenteeism, experience high anxiety, and sometimes experience illness due to the stress. This obviously impacts everyone around them.

Sexual harassment can be eliminated. We can have positive, fun and productive workplaces. We can set a tone in our organizations that creates trust, security, achievement and excellence.

This workshop looks at sexual harassment from two vantage points.

Prevention—how to create a positive workplace

The legal aspects—what to do when someone files a complaint

This workshop will help participants look at their own attitudes and feelings about others in the workplace, about differences and how you deal with them. We cannot create positive workplaces until we all understand our own and others’ dynamics, and what causes negative and inappropriate behaviors. We need to learn new effective behaviors, and to establish a positive climate.

A new vision of the workplace will be focused on, one free of harassment and ineffectual, divisive behaviors, an open workplace in which people can joke and have fun and be productive without hurting others.
